Using an iPhone source

This source requires the companion MicMic iOS app, currently available only through ad hoc distribution. It will be submitted to the App Store soon.

1. Connect the Mac and iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Open the MicMic iOS app, tap Start Microphone, and approve Microphone and Local Network access.
3. On the Mac, select the discovered source and enter the six-digit code shown on the iPhone.
4. Choose System Default or another Mac output device, then enable live listening.

Using the Mac alone

Choose Use System Microphone as the source and approve Microphone access when macOS asks. Speech Recognition permission is also required when you enable live subtitles or transcribe a saved recording.

First checks

• If the iPhone is missing, confirm both devices use the same Wi-Fi and Local Network access is enabled.
• If pairing fails, start a fresh microphone session on the iPhone and use its new six-digit code.
• If audio is silent, check the selected output device, live-listening state, and Mic Gain.
• If transcription fails, keep the original recording and confirm Speech Recognition permission.
• Use the Help window in the Mac app for workflow, file, privacy, and troubleshooting notes.

Recordings and transcripts

Press Record to start saving audio. End & Save writes the recording before optional transcription and translation begin. Use the saved-file link in MicMic to reveal the recording and generated files in Finder.

Live translation is a preview; the saved transcript may differ after the full recording is processed.
