Data collection

MicMic does not include third-party analytics, advertising, trackers, or external cloud API integrations. It does not require an account and does not send recordings or generated files to a developer-operated server.

Local-network microphone

Remote microphone discovery and streaming work only on the same local network; MicMic uses no relay server. Bonjour discovery reveals that a MicMic source exists, its chosen source name, connection timing, packet sizes, and traffic volume to devices able to observe the local network.

Pairing is required before an iPhone sends stream headers or audio. The pairing code is not sent over the network. Stream headers, audio frames, heartbeats, and Mac control messages are encrypted after pairing.

Recordings and generated files

The Mac saves audio only after you press Record. Audio, recording metadata, transcripts, and translations are written locally. Sandboxed builds keep these files inside MicMic's app container until you reveal or export them using macOS.

The original recording remains available if transcription or translation fails.

Speech and translation

Live subtitles, saved transcription, language detection, and translation use Apple Speech, NaturalLanguage, and Translation frameworks on the Mac. MicMic does not integrate a separate third-party transcription or translation service.

Permissions

• The iPhone source requests Microphone and Local Network access.
• The Mac requests Local Network access when connecting to a remote source.
• The Mac requests Microphone access when you choose the system microphone.
• The Mac requests Speech Recognition access for subtitles and transcription.
